Youtube to MP3 converter : Audacity + other online tools
There are lots of programs and gadgets out there that offer to create MP3 from YouTube videos, and many of them cost money. However, there is a simple, straight-forward, and free way to record YouTube videos on your computer and save them as an MP3 file. Here we’re going to take a look at the basic process of recording these videos and what you’ll need to save them as MP3s.
First, you’ll need a piece of free software called Audacity that is available at audacity.sourceforge.net. Audacity is a very powerful audit editing program, and you’ll also need to pick up the LAME library at lame.sourceforge.net. This is the program we’re going to be using to record music and save it as a file to your computer as an MP3.
After bringing up the video, you’ll need to bring up your master volume options. Go to Options, then Properties, and choose “Input” from the drop-down box at the top. In the list at the bottom, make sure “Stereo Mix” is selected, then hit the OK button. On the far right-hand side, there will be an option for “Stereo Mix”, and you’ll need to make sure that the mute box for that option is unchecked. Now go into Audacity, hit the record button, and press play on the YouTube video. Once the video is finished, press stop in Audacity, and save the recording as an MP3 file.
If you don’t want to have to deal with all of the technical details, you can try websites like those on the list below to directly download the videos as MP3 files, but you have a lower degree of control over the volume level and quality of the sound.
