CNN.com was launched on August 30, 1995. Initially, it was an experimental venture known as CNN Interactive. Ten years later in 2005, CNN’s blog site CNN Pipeline was born. CNN.com has since become one of the most preeminent news websites.

In 2008 CNN.com provided extensive coverage on the unrest in Tibet. In retaliation for that, Chinese hackers targeted CNN in April. However, CNN was able to take preventative measures and thwarted the attack.
