I actually had the opportunity to converse with Mario (the CEO of RobotShop, for which I work), giving out points of views about the future of the planet, humanity, robotics and immortality.

He talked about singularity and of a forthcoming movie; Transcendent Man by Ray Kurzweil, the cinematographic adaptation of Singularity, one of his own written works.

From Wikipedia source, singularity is a concept in conformance to which; at a determined hypothetical point of evolution, the human civilization will encounter an exponential technological growth.

We could point out terms like, human-machine/ human–robot merge or even cybernetic organism. There are some futurists that have even predicted the possibility to download the whole human brain on a hard drive, hence transcending mortality

According to the theory of Vernor Vinge, a mathematician who has greatly contributed in making technological singularity more popular, in the early 1980s; Mankind will have the have the means to create some sort of superhuman intelligence that will bring the human era to its end, in the 21st century.

We are presently in the century mentioned above!!

“Vinge writes that some superhuman intelligence, created by man with increased cybernetic capacities or via other less-developed artificial intelligence, will bear the potentiality to increase their self capacities more effectively that the ones (human) who conceived them. This will result in a massive technological advance in a short lapse of time.”

It might line up to the Terminator movie and make you uncomfortable but as time is passing by, we are heading to this step of evolution. Experts have predicted the outcome of these events to occur within the next 30 years.

For those who dreamt about immortality, it will be soon possible; you will simply have to upload your brain/mind to an artificial humanoid container. Let’s hope that there will be some backup system available, in order to handle an unexpected crash or any related accident.

But right now, for those wishing to get through the next 200 yrs, the cryonics technology (liquid state nitrogen) at Alcor Life, is definitely the real thing.

Do you believe that all of this is necessary? Soon, mankind will be able to recreate the entire DNA of a human being and his soul from almost nothing.

Well things should go on that way, unless Ronald Mallet succeeds in creating his time machine and sorts things out.
