Facebook has released a new application called SendMoney which allows to send money to your Facebook Friends. The app is using eBay’s online payment system, PayPal.
You can also send a customized greeting card (hundreds of cards to choose from) along with the money. Ideal for Christmas, New Year, Weddings and Birthdays. In order to use the application, the sender and receiver must have a Facebook account AND a Paypal account.
Paypal says that 80% of their users have a Facebook account but I’m pretty sure that the opposite is not true (80% of Facebook users may not have a Paypal account … I would be curious to see the proportion).
Send Money already operates in 65 countries. The application is free of charge in the U.S. but charges will apply for international transfer of funds.
