“The slow mo guys” have just shot a funny video in which we see popping corn in slow motion. Visually it’s quite entertaining and it’s like if we see the creation of popcorn for the first time in our life.
The sequences were filmed with a Phantom Flex HD video camera, at 2500-10 000 fps. In the last sequence at 2’47, the video is slowed 400 times.
Wikipedia about Pop-Corn :
“Popping corn, is corn (maize) that expands from the kernel and puffs up when heated. Corn is able to pop because, like amaranth grain, sorghum, quinoa and millet, its kernels have a hard moisture-sealed hull and a dense starchy interior. This allows pressure to build inside the kernel until an explosive “pop” results.”
