PAL-V One flying car [Gyrocopter]

Written on 03 April 2012 by Vincent Abry

The flying car is no longer a fantasy of a crazy scientist. Terrafugia is about to launch its flying car on U.S. roads soon. And now here is a concept even more unusual, the 3-wheels helicopter PAL-V One (Gyrocopter) of the Dutch company PAL-V.

Flying Car

And I must admit that I like that concept because it takes much less space in width and it looks like a futuristic bike like Tron Lightcycle. It will require a pilot license to fly but only a car license to drive on road.

Specs : the Pal-V One can carry two people, reach speeds of 180 km/h on road (0 to 100 km /h in under 8 seconds) and has a range of 1200 km. In the air, its maximum speed is also 180 km/h and it needs a minimum speed of 50 km/h and 165 m for take off. To land, just 30 meters of road is enough. It can fly between 350 to 500 km (range).

Well, even if it seems an incredible concept, I can see that the video was posted on April 1 (and youtube account created on March 21), which might suggest an april fool’s prank. But if this were the case, it would be really very well done.
