Written on 18 Nov 2011 by Google has just updated the new design of Youtube with a layer of Social.
The default home page shows subscriptions (center). In the right column are recommended videos.
In the left column you have access to all Youtube Channels including Google+ account with videos of your circles that appear in the center of the page. You can also link Facebook, Twitter, Reader, Orkut and Myspace accounts and you can allow the sharing of YouTube videos on these networks. For example, click on “Connect” next to Facebook icon and you land on the setup page : [also visible in Account Settings]
To add subscriptions by category, click on “Add Channels” at the top left and you land on this page:
Still in the left column on Homepage (a little below Channels) are links to Popular and Trending Youtube Videos:
This new Youtube has a much clearer design (and gray background instead of white previously), and you can customize the homepage in connected mode in the same way than on iGoogle or Netvibes.
