Foxconn Factory from the Inside

Written on 12 April 2012 by Vincent Abry

Rob Schmitz from Marketplace has had the privilege to visit and film the assembly plant for the iPad & iPhone in China, Foxconn.

Foxconn Factory

As we know, the controversy over working conditions of Chinese workers is not over. In an attempt to improve its image, Foxconn invited the journalist in the factory, a city where 240,000 people work and 50,000 live on site and sleep in dormitories.

The purpose of the video is to change public opinion on these “Chinese factories” that work for US companies like Apple (Apple is now worth $600 billion).

Foxconn factory has banks, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, a bookshop, tennis courts, basketball courts, a training center (gym ), two giant pools and a soccer stadium. Plus a television station and a radio station, both dedicated to Foxconn.

At first glance one might say, “Cool” this is like working at Google! hmmm, not really …
