Facebook is expected to unveil its first mobile phone on the market within 12 to 18 months, according to AllthingsD. And it will not be a Samsung smartphone… but an HTC.

Code name: “Buffy“.

Of course as we expect, the social network will be fully integrated in the mobile phone. With 350 million active mobile users, Facebook has no alternative but to envisage a future where mobility is in the core of its business.

“Our mobile strategy is simple: We think every mobile device is better if it is deeply social. We’re working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers, and application developers to bring powerful social experiences to more people around the world.”

HTC Buffy Operating system will be … a modified version of Android.

See you in 18 months.
