It doesn’t take a genius to see that Twitter is a perennial favorite among celebs and other luminaries. From Lady Gaga to Barack Obama to Bill Gates, almost every notable name is on the Twitterverse. So it doesn’t really sound surprising that a new app was designed to give regular Twitter users their juicy dose of celebrity updates – Currently Famous.
So how does this app work ?
It essentially works through Twitter, compiling the latest celebrity news, gossip and updates posted on the microblogging site, and delivers this straight to you via an easy-to-use format. Once you click on any story you fancy, it immediately opens within the Currently Famous app, so you what you get is instant gratification, nothing less. Regular notifications are sent to you each time a new round of celebrity gossip comes in, although updates usually take an interval of fifteen minutes or so. What’s even better with the app is that it features a chart that compiles all the news within the past hour and the previous day as well. There is also a top 50 list, which collates the top fifty celeb news headlines and delivers it straight to your smart phone.
Who’s behind it ?
The app is launched by Currently, the same company that created the Currently Tech News app the previous year. Founder Richard Giles saw the app’s potential in the ever growing niche of Twitter users who regularly tune in to celebrity and celebrity-related tweets. In an interview Giles talked about his latest app, saying, “It seemed like a great idea, given the amount of celebrity-related tweets we see.”
Currently Famous makes use of a “sophisticated algorithm” to scrape together the latest, juiciest celebrity stories posted on Twitter, and dishes them out as updates. It is a stress-free way for the Hollywood-obsessed to enjoy their minute-by-minute gossip fix delivered straight and simple, without having to log out of Twitter.
