Yahoo Content

Yahoo has sealed a deal to buy Associated Content for $100 million.

Associated content is a huge web platform for text, image and video media, regrouping some 400 000 online low-cost freelance writers (5 dollars per post).

The start-up has raised a total of $21.4 million between 2006 and 2009. It was created in Denver, Colorado in 2004 by Luke Beatty.

According to Comscore, the website boasts some 16 million visitors monthly.

The company has produced up to now 2.1 million publications (text, images and videos).

Associated Content can arguably be compared to Demand Media.

Moreover, it seems to be a good strategic move by Yahoo.
