50 Million Downloads in 35 Days for Angry Birds Space
Angry Birds Space, the newest mobile game offering from Rovio’s hugely phenomenal Angry Birds, has reached 50 million downloads in just 35 days. This makes the wildly successful Angry Birds Space the “fastest growing mobile game yet”, according to a blog post published by Rovio on Monday.
The game surpassed all previous records, as it hit the 50 million download mark in just a little over a month. Three days after its launching Angry Birds Space already reached 10 million downloads, after it lorded over the Apple App store chart a few hours after its first release. The new franchise from Angry Birds is the top grossing iPhone and iPad app for mobile game enthusiasts in 30 countries, from the United States and the U.K. to China, India, and France.
The game is available for download by iOS and Android users, with a version available for PC and Mac users as well. The first free update on Angry Birds Space has already been launched and the Rovio team is planning more surprises in the coming days. The updated version features 10 new levels designed for iOS and Android users. The ten additional levels are available for free at Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
In Angry Birds Space, the birds fling themselves into a wormhole and into a strange galaxy after their eggs have gone missing. Not only do the Angry Birds wield new superpowers, explore a new galaxy populated by space pigs and interact with new birds, the game also features the most difficult level yet – the DANGER ZONE.
The entire Rovio team plans to release bigger surprises and features in the days to come. Hitting the 50-million mark in just 35 days, Rovio’s promotional efforts for Angry Birds Space – considered to be one of the biggest campaigns ever for a mobile game – have clearly paid off.
